A glimpse back at 2010

2010 was full making new friends and also losing friends. Although it was a tough year for me financially and emotionally I feel like all that is in my past. I see a light at the end of this tunnel.

Here's a look back at my 2010.

January: I started off the new year with a bang in San Diego followed by Idyllwild for the weekend with great friends. The weekend after was spent up in Big Bear with the boys for the first of my hopefully many fun weekends with the boys in Big Bear. The year started off amazingly, surrounded by my wonderful friends. It all came crashing down though on the 31st. I remember this night like it was yesterday. I was in Huntington Beach with my brother, his fiance, my cousin, and some friends when we all go the phone call that my Grandpa Gene passed away after his battle with cancer.

February: I met my longtime radio favorites Frosty, Heidi, and Frank at Hooters in Lake Forest with some of my friends. I spent a wonderful Valentine's Day with my two friends Bri and Han. We had a lovely dinner at Yardhouse followed by drinks at Dave & Buster's. I made not having a "Valentine" this year work. Just surrounded myself with the friends and family I love. I also gave up alcohol for lent which was something very difficult for me but also showed me that I don't always need to drink to have a good time. Another memorable thing this month was I had Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles for the first time. How could I not mention that? It was something worth remembering. A great experience with my friend Jessica.

March: I surrounded myself with friends this month. Even though I wasn't drinking alcohol I sure went out a lot and sipped on water. I'm sure my friends loved it since I was the designated designated driver.

April: Finally Lent was over! How did I celebrate this? Vegas of course! Bri's birthday brought me out there but it sure was a way to end Lent. There was also another trip up to Big Bear with the boys for a weekend.

May: I met Rob this month. Our first time meeting was at Taco Tuesday at Tortilla Flats followed by The Derby. He ended up being a big part of my summer, even though our friendship didn't end up lasting as long as I hoped it would have. I also made the big decision to move back to my Mom and Dad's house early. It was a tough decision to make but knew that it would make me a happier person and help me to get my finances in order again. I went to my first Bridal Expo with Sara in Long Beach. It was a really nice day of bonding with her.

June: I went to my very first Parker Float. It was definitely something to experience at least once in your life. I've never seen so many people on rafts in the water before. It was like a large floating party. It was so much fun but boy did I get sun burnt! There was also Amos's birthday this month that included a legendary party bus. Party buses always end up being a wild time. At the end of the month was my good friend Toni's baby shower.

July: This month was full of Angel's games with Rob. We went almost every weekend. Sometimes multiple times a week. It was a lot of fun and I ended up really enjoying them. I also experienced a first this month. I shot my first gun! It was scary but so fun. I did pretty well too if I can say so myself. :)

August: My birthday month! And boy was it a busy month. The weekend before my birthday was spend in the desert where I rode my quad with my family and saw Selena Gomez shoot her music video. On my actual birthday I was surrounded by friends in Fullerton where we sang karaoke all night. I bought a Disneyland pass! The most beautiful baby boy was born, Alexzander Reed Zabala.

September: A month full of Disneyland trips with Rob. Saw my childhood friend, Tamara Romeo get married and went to the Balasterri family picnic in San Diego.

October: Went to the Pomona Off Road Expo with Rob to get ready for Glamis later in the month. For 2 weekends in a row we went to Coffin Creek Haunted Mazes and had a blast. Kristal moved into my house and we went up to Big Bear for the weekend for the last trip of the year with the boys. It, once again, was a fun time. The month ended in Glamis for Halloween which also ended my short term friendship with Rob.

November: We took a family day trip up to Big Bear to scatter my Grandpa Gene's ashes in Holcomb Valley. It was a beautiful, crisp, and emotional day. It wasn't sad but happy. When I was out there I just felt his presence the whole time. I walked for my cousin Jake in the JDRF Walk for juvenile diabetes research. I ended up raising over $100 for the walk.

December: Went to a random reggae show at The House of Blues in Anaheim with Josh, Sara, and Jesse. Experienced another first this year with my Mom and Sara at Color Me Mine. I found it so therapeutic sitting there painting. Kristal and I wrapped presents for the Boys and Girls Club. It was so fun and nice seeing the sweet children pick out gifts for their loved ones. I bought myself a Christmas gift, a new camera. We had our 3rd annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party. I bartended at Sharkeez with Sara which ended up being another once in a lifetime experience that I learned so much from and enjoyed. Spent what might be one of my last Christmas's with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins before they move to Texas and enjoyed the last week of the year off from work, relaxing.

So that's pretty much it all wrapped up. I'm looking forward to what 2011 will bring me. I'm expecting it to be a good year. :)
